Tulipmania
With a little March madness
Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s edition of Loose Watercolours! How’s your week been? We’re in March now, which feels almost ridiculous to say, but I guess this year has absolutely flown by! There’s been a glimpse of sunshine this week, and the snowdrops are out in full force now - perfect for some floral inspiration. So what better time of year to get your paintbrushes out?
It was lovely to see you all at the last live broadcast, which was ‘Misty Start.’ If you’re looking to paint more over this year, why not come along to one of the live broadcasts? They’re usually on Monday nights at 8pm GMT, and you can watch them by popping along here: loosewatercolours.com
In fact, why not take look at some of these fantastic paintings that you’ve all done? Let me know if you can spot yours - here’s a beautiful assortment from last week’s live broadcast, ‘Lavender Pot.’ You can colour me impressed!
If you want some painting practice this week, then why not head over to the website, where there’s a brand new tutorial ready to try? ‘Door of Delphs’ is a lovely springtime treat, filled with bright colours and beautiful shades for you to paint - if you want to give it a go, why not follow the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/academy/all-tutorials/
And if you want some more inspiration, make sure to head over to the Patreon site, where there’s lots of loose watercolours being uploaded every day. You can explore yourselves by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
In terms of my own painting this week, I’ve been enjoying the floral themes, including this one, which I’ve called ‘Dancing Tulips.’ I actually did this piece with Jackman’s Paint, which are a brand I’ve been having a lot of fun with recently.
They’re beautifully rich colours, and makes a bold splash on the page - I’m always very pleased with the end result. If you fancy giving them a try yourselves, you can get 10% off when you use the code ANDREWG10. Here’s the link if you want to find out more: https://www.jackmansartmaterials.co.uk/
And here’s a free video for you to try if you also fancy getting in on the tulipmania.
Are you looking for a new hobby now that spring has sprung? Or maybe you’re looking for that perfect present for any Easter birthdays? If so, why not treat yourselves to a set of Loose Gang brushes? If you’re interested, you can find them by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours/shop/loose-gang-brush-set-28089?source=storefront
That’s all from me, as for once, the sun is shining, Toby’s tail is wagging - the only thing left to do is take the dog for a walk. As always, however, this week there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers - after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Tulips & String’ this week.
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
