Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s edition of Loose Watercolours! How have you been? Good, I hope. It feels like we’re well into autumn now - there’s leaves gently falling over all of the village paths, and it feels crisper every time Toby and I go for a walk somehow. How’s your week been? Whatever you’ve been up to, I hope you’ve found a little time to relax and enjoy all that the season brings.

It was so lovely to see you all at the last live broadcast, ‘Purple Blast.’ Thanks for joining me! As always, our live broadcasts take place on Monday evenings at 8pm (GMT), and you can join us through either Loose Watercolours or Patreon, as I stream to both platforms simultaneously. So, just pick whichever is most convenient for you, grab your paints and join me for an evening of relaxed watercolour painting.

And if you’re looking for some lovely loose watercolour inspiration, why not take a look at last week’s broadcast? Below, you’ll find a beautiful gallery showcasing just some of your versions of ‘Autumn Rest.’ Let me know if you can spot yours, and click here to enjoy some more.

With September in full swing, you might be thinking in all things orange and brown, with a splash of red mixed in for good measure. If so, then there’s a new tutorial over on Patreon for you, which this week is titled ‘Pumpkin Time.’ If you’d like to paint along, you can find the link here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours

But if you’re resistant to the idea that autumn is here and winter is coming, you might fancy a more floral offering instead. So why not try another subject? ‘Blue Vintage Floral’ is available over on the website for you to try if you want to rekindle some of the magic of seasons past. You can paint along by following the link here: loosewatercolours.com

And of course, why not reminisce over the best days of summer with this free tutorial just below? ‘Summer Blooms’ is a lovely floral, so just watch the video a few times to get the gist of the method, then feel free to give it a go yourselves!

Of course, the fact that it’s autumn hasn’t stopped me practicing my plein air skills just yet. It’s not cold enough for thick coats at this point in the year, so I headed off to Exton Hall Estate over the past week to paint the lovely scenery. Here’s a little look at what I got up to.

And here’s the finished pictures! As always, I’d be interested to know what you think.

If you want to treat yourself to some new brushes, or maybe you need a gift for that artist in your life, why not upgrade to some new brushes? You can get your very own set of Loose Gang brushes by following the link just here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours/shop/loose-gang-brush-set-28089?source=storefront

That’s all from me this week! I’m starting to see some glimpses of orange in the trees, and there’s a chill in the air, so I reckon it’s time for Toby and I to head out on a nice evening walk to get some artistic inspiration. Toby’s quite a maestro, don’t you know? He’s got discerning taste. As always, there’s an exclusive tutorial waiting especially for all you lovely paid subscribers. Your generous support helps keep this Substack going, and I’m so very grateful for each and every one of you! This week’s tutorial is ‘Perfect Pears,’ so I hope you enjoy painting along with me.

Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until then, have a wonderful week, enjoy the changing seasons, and, as always, happy painting!

‘Perfect Pears.’
