Roses galore
Some floral fun this week
Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s edition of Loose Watercolours! How’s your week been? It’s been wet and blustery here, and dare I say it, but I think I just saw a glimpse of snow out of my window. All the better for staying inside with a warm cup of tea, I think. But of course, plenty of time for painting.
It was lovely to see you all at the last live broadcast, which was ‘Heart of Flowers.’ It’s Valentine’s Day this weekend, so the perfect time to paint all things floral. If you’re looking to paint more over this year, why not come along to one of the live broadcasts? They’re usually on Monday nights at 8pm GMT, and you can watch them by popping along here: loosewatercolours.com
In fact, why not look at some of these fantastic paintings that you’ve all done? Let me know if you can spot yours!
Have you had a chance to have a look at the Patreon site yet? There’s lots of loose watercolour fun being uploaded every day, so there’s plenty to give you inspiration for your own painting. You can explore yourselves by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
In fact, there’s another new tutorial aimed at beginners available over there now. Why not give ‘Door of Delphs’ a go?
In terms of my own painting this week, I braved the cold for a little bit of plein air practice. It was chilly and a bit damp, but fun! This one I’ve titled ‘Souls & Shadows,’ and it’s of our neighbouring church in the next village along. What do you think? I reckon it’s suitably atmospheric for this time of year.
And here’s another bit of loose watercolour inspiration, as here’s a painting I got up to this week, ‘Flowers on the Window Sill.’ As you can probably tell, I really enjoy painting florals, as they’re simple to try, yet you end up with a beautifully dramatic result.
Maybe painting is a new hobby for you, or maybe you’re just looking to treat someone special in your life. If so, why not upgrade to a set of Loose Gang brushes? If you’re interested, you can find them by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours/shop/loose-gang-brush-set-28089?source=storefront
That’s all from me for now, as I was right - that is snow I can spot outside my window. I think Toby and I need to head out on a walk before the weather gets significantly worse. As always, however, this week there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers - after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Yellow Flower Days,’ a fun little floral this week.
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
