Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolour fun! What have you all been up to this week? Relaxing in the sun, I hope. It’s been hot here in the Midlands, but all the better for painting! Toby and I have been having a nice week enjoying the sunshine, enjoying some treats, and walking around the village - what else would you do on a warm August afternoon? Well, except paint, of course.
In terms of painting, it was great to see so many of you at last week’s live broadcast, ‘Window in Summer.’ I hope you all enjoyed painting along as much as I did! We had some fun and laughs along the way, and there’s more to come this week with ‘Daisy Friends.’ This week’s live broadcast is on at the usual time of 8pm GMT, so quite soon - get your brushes ready! You can access it via the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/live-broadcast/
There’s more painting tutorials available this week on Patreon as well - ‘Florals on Check.’ This one is a special favourite of mine as it’s a Wash & Line, which always adds an extra bit of fun to the painting and creates a bolder finish with the loose outline. If you’d like to paint along (and why wouldn’t you?), you can find my Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
And that’s not all this week, as we’ve had a flower overload - ‘Floral Swirl’ is also now available on loosewatercolours.com, with some lovely bright colours and curving shapes. If you’re a website member, be sure not to miss this one! You can find the website here: loosewatercolours.com
If you’d like to be notified as soon as new tutorials are posted, why not join in the fun over at the Beginners Watercolour Group on Facebook? Now with over five thousand members, it’s the perfect place to find tips and tricks as to how to improve on your watercolour journey. Plus, it’s the ideal spot to search for some artistic inspiration! There’s links posted to all of the new videos, as well as reminders so you’ll never miss a live broadcast again. If you’d like to join, here’s the link: https://m.facebook.com/groups/753969806117098/?ref=share
And if you fancy treating yourselves this summer, why not splash out with your very own set of the Loose Gang to really elevate your painting? Perfect as a treat for yourself or for artistically-inclined friends, both the original Gang and the Cousins are the ideal way to improve on your loose watercolour journey.

Another look back to the Cotswolds this week - it really was a lovely holiday. And of course, it wouldn’t be a relaxing trip without lots of painting going on, would it? Here’s another plein air that took some inspiration from the local surroundings.
As September (and autumn) are just around the corner, I thought I’d look to some seasonal inspiration this week. As such, this week’s exclusive paid tutorial is ‘Two Fungi,’ so you can get a head start on any harvest-based paintings that you want to create this year. A lovely little earthy design, it’s a delicate painting that relies most of all on shadows to create definition - and it’s lots of fun to paint! I hope you all enjoy giving it a go.
That’s all from me this week, though, as Toby and I have plans that involve a light snack or two after dinner. Until next time, happy painting! We hope you all have a great week!
