February fun
Spring has sprung? We can only hope
Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s edition of Loose Watercolours! How’s your week been? A slightly later edition this time, but that’s because I’ve been out and about a fair bit, making the most of the (ever so) slightly warmer weather. It was lovely to see you all at the last live broadcast, which was ‘Lavender Pot.’ We’re nearly at the end of February now, and I’ve started to spot some snowdrops peeking out, which can only mean one thing - spring is finally on the way! With that in mind, I thought we could celebrate the change of the seasons with all things floral.
If you’re looking to paint more over this year, why not come along to one of the live broadcasts? They’re usually on Monday nights at 8pm GMT, and you can watch them by popping along here: loosewatercolours.com
In fact, why not take look at some of these fantastic paintings that you’ve all done? Let me know if you can spot yours - here’s a beautiful assortment from last week’s live broadcast, ‘Cherry Blossom Moon.’
In terms of new tutorials this week, there’s a new one over on the website, loosewatercolours.com, ‘Simple Cherries.’ It’s a lovely bright floral, reminiscent of summery days - which hopefully aren’t too far away! Here’s the link should you want to give it a go: https://loosewatercolours.com/academy/all-tutorials/

Have you had a chance to have a look at the Patreon site yet? There’s lots of loose watercolour fun being uploaded every day, so there’s plenty to give you inspiration for your own painting. You can explore yourselves by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
In fact, there’s another new tutorial aimed at beginners available over there now. Why not give ‘Bath Tub Florals’ a go?
In terms of my own painting this week, I’ve had a go at these two landscapes, which I’ve named ‘Moon & Rocks’ and ‘Garden Sunlight.’ I’ve had a lot of fun with these ones, as I’ve been trying out Jackman’s new paints and textures. I was lucky enough to visit the company, and got to watch them being made, so of course, had to give them a go myself! What do you think?
They’re beautifully rich colours, and makes a bold splash on the page - so why not take a look? If you fancy giving them a try, you can get 10% off when you use the code ANDREWG10.

Maybe painting is a new hobby for you, or maybe you’re just looking to treat someone special in your life. If so, why not upgrade to a set of Loose Gang brushes? If you’re interested, you can find them by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours/shop/loose-gang-brush-set-28089?source=storefront
That’s all from me for now, as I quite fancy going out for a spot of plein air painting while the weather is still nice. For once, the sun is shining, there’s a slight warmth to the air - it’s too good an opportunity to miss! As always, however, this week there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers - after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Simple Tree,’ a fun little floral this week.
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
