Eastertime fun
Lots of eggs and all things sweet
Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s edition of Loose Watercolours! How’s your week been? Good, I hope. It’s been super sunny here - surprisingly so, for a bank holiday weekend, but I’m certainly not complaining. There’s been food, fun, and Easter eggs galore here in Looseville, so an ideal weekend if you ask me. What have you all been up to? Have you been painting? Have you had enough time? No worries either way. It’s a new day, and there’s always time for a simple refresh and restart.
It was lovely to see you all at the last live broadcast, which was Monday’s ‘Lilac Basket.’ If you’re looking to paint more over this year, why not come along to one of the live broadcasts? They’re usually on Monday nights at 8pm GMT, and you can watch them by popping along here: loosewatercolours.com & Patreon (I broadcast on both at the same time.)
In fact, why not take a look at some of these beautiful paintings of ‘Blue & Red Display’ from last week? Let me know if you can spot yours.
If you’re wanting some practice with loose watercolours this week, then head on over to Patreon. There’s a new tutorial this week, and I’ve taken some inspiration from the season, so this week’s subject is ‘Easter Chick.’ What better Easter surprise than that? You can give it a go by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/cw/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours
If you have a little more time this week on account of the holidays, or just fancy some more loose practice, then why not head over to the website, where there’s another tutorial ready and waiting for you to try? This one is titled ‘Fun Poppies in Blue,’ and it’s a lovely floral for the spring. If you want to try it, go and visit loosewatercolours.com
And that’s not all! There’s an extra little Easter egg this week, namely in the form of another loose watercolours tutorial. Have fun with this one! I’ve titled it ‘Flower Basket.’ Original, I know, but it does what it says on the tin. I hope you all enjoy painting along!
Speaking of spring, I’ve been having a look at some of my favourite floral paintings, and I’m curious to see what you think! Here are four of my particular favourites: ‘Dancing Daffodils’, ‘Sunflower Moments’, ‘Daisy Spring’, and ‘Magnolia Blooms.’ Which one do you like best? Let me know in the poll below.

What are your plans for the rest of the year? If you’ve got some free time and fancy painting, why not join me in beautiful Portugal from the 17th to the 24th October 2026, where you can enjoy a seven day watercolour holiday with five days tuition! You’ll stay at an amazing four star hotel, the Vila Do Obidos, and have a fantastic time painting all of the beautiful sights of the Iberian Peninsula.
If you’d like to find out more, you can visit Alpha Painting Holidays at alphapaintingholidays.com, by mobile phone at +44 (0) 1934 733877, or by email at joinus@alphapaintingholidays.com.
Are you looking for a new hobby now that spring has sprung? Or maybe you’re just after a new set of paintbrushes after being struck with some loose watercolour inspiration. If so, why not treat yourselves to a set of Loose Gang brushes? If you’re interested, you can find them by following the link here: https://www.patreon.com/andrewgeesonloosewatercolours/shop/loose-gang-brush-set-28089?source=storefront
That’s all from me this week, as the sun is shining, the birds are singing - I reckon it might be time for a picnic. What better time for it? As always, however, this week there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers - after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Cadmium Floral Evening.’
Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
