Hello everyone, and welcome back to another week of loose watercolour fun! A late edition this week, but that’s because we’ve been getting in the Christmas spirit over here in Looseville, especially as we’re now in the run up to the big day. We’ve put the tree up, and even had our first Christmas dinner of the season this week (delicious as always!), and of course, I’ve been painting some festive friends in the loose style. Toby’s especially been enjoying all the fun!

It was fantastic to see you all at this week’s live broadcast, which was ‘Poinsettia Fun!’ - I’ve spotted a lot of poinsettias in the last few weeks, so of course, I looked for some floral inspiration! Live broadcasts are usually on a Monday night around 8pm GMT, so be sure to keep an eye out here if you want to join in: https://www.youtube.com/@AndrewGeesonloosewatercolours/streams

I really loved seeing all of your versions of last week’s live broadcast, ‘Christmas Doorway.’ So much so that I thought we’d take a look at seeing some of your masterpieces!

And if you missed it, don’t worry. You can catch up on ‘Christmas Doorway’ and any other previous live broadcasts that you particularly enjoyed by taking a look around loosewatercolours.com.

There’s lots of previous live broadcasts for you to enjoy.

I hope you’re all enjoying the revamped website! Please feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you think - it’s always great to get feedback, and it’s really useful to know how you’re all finding it. If you’ve been over there in recent days, you may have noticed the new tutorial currently up and available to watch - ‘Woodland Deer.’ You can give it a go yourselves just here: https://loosewatercolours.com/tutorial/woodland-deer/

And that’s not all! There’s a tutorial double bill this week, so you can also paint along to ‘Foxy Forest’ if you haven’t quite had your fill of woodland creatures. Paint along by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/tutorial/foxy-forest/

And if you’ve not had a look at the new website yet, then why not have a wander over? There’s lots of exciting things to discover, but I’ll leave that for you to find out. In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at what membership of the website entails.

In terms of my own painting this week, I haven’t got up to as much plein air as I usually do, mainly because the weather is just so cold! But here’s one that I managed in warmer days - painting at the historic Belton House estate in Lincolnshire.

A spot of painting in warmer days.

Christmas is just around the corner, and that means it’s gift giving season. If you’re looking for a gift for the artist in your life, or want to treat yourselves to a festive treat, why not upgrade to a set of Loose Gang brushes? Now is the perfect time to get them, as it’s the last call for them to arrive in time for the big day. If you’re interested, you can find them by following the link here: https://loosewatercolours.com/product-category/the-loose-gang/

That’s all from me just now, as I’m off to put the kettle on. It’s starting to get seriously chilly up here in the studio, which can mean only one thing - lots of tea breaks! As always though, this week there’s an exclusive tutorial available especially for all of you lovely paid subscribers - after all, it’s your support that helps keep this Substack running! So I hope you all enjoy painting along to ‘Vintage Christmas Tree.’

Toby and I will be back in your inboxes very soon, but until next time, it’s goodbye from us both. Have a lovely week, and happy painting!
